I am looking for the john williamsecital in bristol 2000 on cd or cassette.Can anyone please help me?
It was broadcasted by the BBC3.

| Sorry I can't help you with this, but I did manage to locate a DVD that seems almost impossible to get of a 1998 Berlin concert called Latin America in which JW play the Aran Juez concerto and some Barrios. It is available (only I think) through Amazon France. |

I had a look for this on the Amazon France site - no mention of JW at all. There are some screen shots of the menu which show some Ravel and Bizet but not the other pages.... A similar item is listed as not available on Amazon UK starting with the same Ravel and Bizet but no Aranjuez or Barrios. I found it on Amazon UK by searching DVDs for Barenboim, on France using the words latin america.
So I'm not convinced this is the elusive DVD Richard mentions in his videography.
Incidentally why on earth would Aranjuez appear on a Latin American night? Being born in Argentina Barenboim surely knows the difference between South America and Iberia. |

A PS to my last posting - I do realise Ravel and Bizet aren't Latin American either.
There's a bit of reverse movement on the JW CD of Spanish Guitar Music which includes Villa-Lobos and Sagreras. I'm really grateful to Richard's list of recorded works to know that these weren't originally released as Spanish Music - JW certainly knows his geography, even if the CD compiler doesn't. |

This has the same pic as Richard's videography so maybe this is it. I found it using google search terms of waldbuhne latin williams dvd. There's a whole series of Waldbuhne DVDs. Maybe it's international licensing that JW doesn't appear on the EU and Us listed ones.
If you've not got the right one Philip (hope you have), maybe this is it. |
