A couple of covers on JW re-issue CDs (the US version 'Spanish Guitar Music' and one of the Decca compilations) use library photos of steel strung guitars complete with black plastic pick-guard. I've seen these on budget re-issues by other players too. Am I the only one who won't buy this sort of thing on principle? What else have others seen? |

Even I also fail to understand how can those companies 'insult' the repertoire and provide a wrong impression altogether by such 'mis -citation'... |

The one I baulk at most ( a pity 'cos I fancy the CD for the music) is the re-issue of Baroque Music by Bream, with a plectrum tucked under the steel strings... By the time that the music on that CD was written guitarists had long abandoned use of a quill, so that fingers and thumb could play contrapuntal music (see Mudarra's fantasia in another discussion). |
