Before JW was born Segovia was the leading classical guitarist in Europe. I've often wondered how many other guitarists were being recorded between the wars.
www.doremi.com/segovia.html lists a whole load of guitarists re-issued in a 'Segovia and his contemporaries' series - Anido, Walker, Sainz de la Maza, Rey de la Torre plus some names I'd never heard before. I don't know what the re-masterings are like.

Not JW, but so much of this repertoire is music he recorded on LP. |
