Recently came across www.ga-usa.com/cglists/cg-movies.htm which lists a couple of JW guitar soundtrack contributions I'd never heard of - 'Blame it on the Bellboy' and 'Criss Cross'.

It's a rather incomplete list (no JW in The Honorary Consul, or Craig Ogden in Notting Hill, or Angel Romero playing Barrios in Kissing Jessica Stein for example) but I don't know anything about the two above that JW plays. And yes, I know it's film music but I believe it's the right JW.

I tried to order "John Williams plays the Movies" in Media Market. They said there is no CD with that title by John Williams . Their computer could not even find "The Magic Box".
This is Germany.
How come?
Do I have to travel to England for this?

www.amazon.de lists both (there are several listings for the movies disc, some at silly prices but also a sensible priced one as 'US Import')

Interesting. Someone has added to his IMDB entry since I last checked about a year ago - the page only used to list the "biggies" (Emma's War, Deer Hunter, Stevie, Fish Called Wanda, Honorary Consul). I'm absolutely certain that I added "The Raging Moon" and "The Walking Stick" a couple of years ago (the latter is particularly important because it's where Cavatina came from), but they seem to have didsappeared from the listing.

I don't really see the point of adding individual episodes for Rosemary & Thyme considering he didn't play any "incidental" music for any episodes (as far as I know - I've only ever watched one episode and it didn't appeal to me; the list seems to bear this out).

Although I knew there must be more films he's worked on, it's strange that Criss Cross, Blame it on the Bellboy and The Boost (I've seen all three) have all come to light at the same time. It looks like I have a little work to do!

As for the list linked in Tim's first post, it's very old and is from a discussion on a now-defunct mailing list to which I contributed (I'd say the discussion happened around 1998 - I do recall that Great Expectations was one of my additions to the list, and I think the film had just come out - I went to see it because I have a thing about G. Paltrow and was surprised to see the JW credit, so rushed out to buy the album). Although I don't recall BiotB or Criss Cross specifying who the guitarist was. (The discussion started out listing films which had included classical guitar pieces without specifying who had done the playing - it's only later on that Bill worked on including further details. I could swear that other films were mentioned as well.) His page says "Last Modified 04/22/06 21:20" but I don't think any text was added or changed at that time; the date probably refers to links added.

Richard,

I was just watching an episode from season two of the new Battlestar Galactica on sky 1 and in the closing moments there was a classical guitar rendition of 'Cavatina'. Obviously I can't say whether or not this was JW's version, but it sounded like it. Anyway, the episode was entitled 'Scar'.
