Hello all,

I'm a first time poster. About a year ago i started playing classical guitar and a couple of weeks ago i started learning the prelude in Bach's suite for cello solo no. 1 in G, BWV no. 1007. After i had worked though it a bit i decided i'd like to hear a recorded version of it, so i downloaded a John Williams recording of it from itunes (the record that it was part of was "Guitar Adagios," but i suspect that was not the origianl album where the recording came from). As i was trying to follow along with the music i noticed that the entire fourth measure was missing from the Williams recording. I have listened to a few other recording and found that the fourth measure is in there. Has anyone else noticed this before? Does anyone know why Williams recorded it this way?

This is John Williams 1958 recording when he was only 17 - it's exactly the same on the Decca 'Guitar Recital' CD issue of the same performance. Youthful enthusiasm perhaps?

The opening four measures are all there on his later 1982 recording on the 'Portrait of John Williams' CD.
