I am a new member and recently read a post on Aarons' "transcription" for this piece. I, too, have always agreed about the alternative tunings, but I am not yet the master transcriber from the only 2 arrangements which I have. Aaron, if you are still out there, how can I get a copy of your "lifted" transcription? Or can anyone else help me conquer this guitar masterpiece with a C tuning? I want to play it as if Joplin himself would not believe. That is the secret. The easier, the better. Without too much struggle with drastically changing fingerboard positions. Brett |

Aren't you asking the impossible to conquer a masterpiece 'the easier, the better... without too much struggle drastically changing fingerboard positions'? JW uses a CGDGBE tuning so he can keep the original piano key of C, and he set out to preserve the original as much as possible. That ability to overcome difficulties is what makes him JW, when you (probably) and I aren't. |
