The new Sunday morning grown-up discussion programme from 9am (replacing Brekfast With Frost) starts tomorrow and according to the Sunday AM website, JW is scheduled to appear.

Seeing as it's primarily a political programme, it could be interesting, and given JW's fairly entrenched political views, I'm sure he'll insist on talking about much more than music. I doubt he'll be paying anything, though (but given his instrument is portable, he just might).
Tricky, set your DVD recorder!

Got it. They didn't involve JW in the political bits. He was only on in the last 10 minutes. Pity they cut off so abruptly at the end while he was still playing - a fade-out would have been far less ignorant. Clip coming up. More later.
I've got to become the neighbour from hell now and clean up after the builders with a noisy high-pressure washer. Hope they enjoy their lie-in  |

Quite. I recorded the show (there's no way I was getting up at that time!) and was very disappointed.
In fact, I was very disappointed in the whole programme - Andrew Marr was a great political correspondent for the BBC, but he is absolutely NOT a natural interviewer. The whole thing was bitty and incoherent, and the individual interviews seemed to drift all over the place.
To top it all, JW looked like he was particularly uncomfortable and didn't want to be there - he didn't even feel the need to introduce what he was going to play (Sevilla) which is really unlike him. |

The programme seemed to be more comedy than serious - with Gordon Brown ducking/diving and trying/failing to turn it into a party political broadcast. John Major....
I'm surprised JW managed to play at all from a low setee. He DID catch the armrest a couple of times.
Andrew Marr (he's certainly no Jeremy Paxman) seemed lost for words When JW was non-committal about the ashes. I think he hoped (and failed - again) to start some banter.
I've edited out everything before the end of Moira Stewart's news reading, but it's still 300Mb+. This is definitely one for the "sentimental archive" rather than something I'd burn for dvd playback.
(I'm using PC No 2 at the moment. PC No 1 is video crunching the second half of LNotP. Over to LNotP in a few minutes.) |
