Just seen this JW CD listed - obviously a compilation - 'The Qantas Collection', eBay listing 4796268851

One for the completists I guess, any bets now on the final price?

Interesting that the Barrios track is listed as by Mangore, his Guarani pseudonym.

I've seen him referred to just as Mangore on several occasions, probably by the same sub-editors who list Ralph Vaughan Williams simply as Williams.

Of course, some time you'll see his first name given as Nitsuga. A feather (or two) in the cap for whoever does that...

OK, I'll call myself Mailliw.

Good idea - if you call yourself Llib people will think you're Welsh not Scottish.

Actually, a serious point. Is it just part of the Barrios myth that he ever called himself Nitsuga? And some CDs call him Agustin Barrios Mangore - did he ever use Barrios and Mangore at the same time himself?

That'll be worth three feathers in the headdress.

Not a myth. He did call himself Cacique (=Chief) Nitsuga Mangoré and played bare-chested in Guarani Indian gear (including feathers). I have the photos (in 'Six Silver Moonbeams').

And Mailliw sounds Welsh too. I'd have to move to Llareggub. (I used to know all the words to 'Land of My Fathers' in Welsh!)

Used to go to Wales quite a lot but Llareggub means nothing to me - is it one of those backwards places, up at the top of a valley where narrow gauge steam railways never go?

You could call yourself Mailliw Williams which sounds very Welsh. There's probably someone called John Williams lives there - now, what were we discussing...

'Llaregub' is fictitious, invented by Dylan Thomas. Read it backwards.

If I wanted to sound Welsh, I could call myself Gwillym apDafydd (William, son of David)!

I'd realised it was something (or nothing) backwards - even I wouldn't make disparaging Blackadder-like comments about parts of Wales being backwards...

Didn't spot Dylan Thomas though ("whoever he was... the man ain't got no culture" to quote Paul Simon).

Ah, Blackadder. Believe it or not, it is a real name and was my wife's maiden name!

Believe it. There can be no other reason for watching "I'm a celebrity..." other than she is a celebrity and looks down on people who aren't.

Hope your cat doesn't watch it too.

Back to the thread! 6 hours left and no bids - rather too much a compilation for my taste when I've got all the music anyway. Maybe not e-Bay's favourite airline...

I saw Alexander Sergei Ramirez's Barrios disc in a Virgin at the weekend. The disc goes wider than just the usual favourites but £16.99 sounded a lot on spec. That disc calls him Barrios Mangore, and the on-line DG catalogue just Mangore (I rather expected Barriosmangore to be just one word in German...) I must have a listen to the samples later on http://www.deutschegrammophon.com/

Listed again - 4810917817. 99p starting price this time. Will it sell this time? Or be like the Qantas flight from Heathrow to Sydney which had to stop at Stansted to re-fuel.
