Lots of talk about the chances of a reunion hidden within e-bay thread. Thought I'd open it up again here. (sorry!)Shame to read Steve's views against being involved in a reunion. What a lot of enjoyment we've all got from sky over the years. Even have my 13 and 10 year old boys watching the videos and dvds. Taken them to Herbie and Richard Durrant concerts which theyve enjoyed. So new audience there! Reckon a lot of people ready for, at the least, a one-off concert. Isn't it the 25th anniversary of Westminster Abbey? (What about York Minster this time-only 30 mins. from me!) Perhaps JW will never be involved but as HF and RD already tour together (two fifths of a sky line up), there's some hope! Let's get together and make it happen! (But it wouldn't be the same without Steve - so come on SG!!) |

Hi Ben Flattering though talk of a reunion is, I personally have quite a few reasons for it not to appeal. One that's important (to me, at any rate) is that after we'd been playing together for a few years the degree of unspoken communication between us on stage was at a level we couldn't hope to replicate. One night in Australia we put so much space in the middle of Sahara the thing was on a knife-edge, and when we relaxed the tension the audience broke into spontaneous applause. When in the past we were giving performances at that level, I think it would be unfair to an audience to just play the music as well as any competent group of session musicians could play it. I have, as I say, other reasons for not wanting to do it but short-changing the audience (you guys) is definitely on the list. |

Hi Steve, Sad you are not all getting together for a reunion. Loved your music to bits. Met you all on several occasions in two cities and at Tangalooma. Guess it was you five that introduced me to the music.Tris may be pleased to know my daughter chose to be a drummer. Could have done with a few of his sticks over the years ;).Refering to the sticks posting of course. Thanks for the music. Stays with us long after the playing is done. |
