Found this interesting snippet: Title: Carillon. Sky, John Williams Author: Words and music - Herbie Flowers and Ian Gomm http://www.sheetmusicwarehouse.co.uk/details.php?ref=16171 They seem to list "Words & music" for most of the entries but...! |

Part of the iPod generation. Everything is called a 'song' these days.... (Bl**dy h*ll - how do you get to be on "Grumpy Old Men"!) |

'Grumpy Old Men' was a great idea, with some credible complaints from the grumpy ones. Now it's a bit contrived and the 'Grumpy Old Women' show even more so. |

I think Ian Gomm did write a lyric for Carillon, which is why his name's on the copyright. Never heard it, mind; it's a song (sorry Tim) I can't imagine being sung. My iPod regards Beethoven's 9 symphonies as 36 songs. Other 'songs' include Barenboim's Reith Lectures and Michel Thomas's German lessons. Happy whistling, all. |

Thanks Steve. I'm fascinated that the Beethoven Symphonies only make 36 songs on your iPod - is that 36 songs and 1 scene by the brook? I'm sure Barenboim would have a thing or two to say about the Reith lectures being a song... |

Serious stuff this time. According to the biog on www.iangomm.com "Ian co-wrote the instrumental 'Carrillon' with Herbie Flowers the bass player who had played on most of Ian's solo recordings. Herbie had just formed a classical 'super group' Sky with guitarist John Williams and this track appeared on their debut album 'Sky'..." Note the word 'instrumental'. |
