For those who are interested; there's an unusual CD version of the first sky album up on eBay at the moment. It has a black cover and a kind of squared-off version of the classic sky logo. It appears to be a different version of the Music club CD as it appears to have 'Dies Irae' as well as the original 1979 tracks.

I brought this particular CD to both Richard and Mike's attention a few years ago when I noticed it on eBay at the time. I shan't be bidding on it - although it is tempting - but I just thought I'd bring it to everyone else's attention. As I write this, I think there is about one day and 13 hours left until the auction finishes. The item number, if I have copied it down correctly!, is 4735202451. I found it initially by typing Herbie Flowers into the eBay search box.

The other usual albums are up as well (sky2, Mozart) as well as Francis Monkman's 'Dweller on the Threshold' -- I already have this and it's worth getting hold of if you liked 21st Century Blues, for example...

End of advert (and no, I'm not one of the sellers!).

Here is the item in question.

Incidentally, that cover is simply the European (Dutch or German) pressing of the Music Club CD - I don't know what legal arrangements forced them to use different artwork, but it's fairly frequent with budget labels for their subsidiaries in various countries to use different packaging. They also used a different cover for 2, 3 and 4. (Sky2 was white rather than black and the "2" was rather crudely added; Sky3 was blue, and the Forthcoming cover was the one I've included on the relevant album page on the site).

There are no sleeve notes at all, and whilst I have at moments been tempted to acquire a set of the Euro-CDs, I've decided that I can live without them.

Oh, and I highly recommend Dweller... to anyone who hasn't heard it. I had a rare cassette listening day last week and I listened to it (among other things) for the first time in a few years, and it was even better than I remembered.

Regrettably, the item for sale is an LP and I wonder how many people still have functional turntables around... (I have the LP apart from the cassette - obviously!) :-)

If anyone's interested in spending an absurd amount of money; one of David Beckham's fleet of cars - a 2003 Mercedes S350 - is up for grabs on eBay. It's currently at £50,000 with four days to go! Guess what - I won't be bidding on it! For that sort of money I'd at least expect video copies of sky live in Bremen (1979) and sky live at the Hammy Odeon (1980)!!! If anyone's got copies, drop me a line...

A very big ;o)

Richard;- Thanks for the note about the Francis Monkman lp, I think I'll have a go for that, I still have a record player myself. Though the last time I changed my amp, it was getting increasingly difficult to get one with a suitable phono pre-amp built in! If I'm lucky enough to get it, would you want a cleaned up copy on cd-r?

Anonymous;- I have already transferred said laser-disk to DVD, last year, courtesy of Mike Breen who leant it to me. I cleaned up the picture slightly and the quality is superb, and fits on one 4.7Gb disk easily enough as it is only about 85mins in total. Mpeg2 rendering quality is better than the 'Classic Rock' dvd currently available. If you want a ready solution e-mail me for details.

Richard, I got that FM lp on eBay, should have it within a week or so. Would you like a new tape or cd of it?
