Hello all, I have just found this site and like a lot of the entries I have read it takes me way way back to the early 80's when SKY was the only band for me. I play drums and keyboards and we did two of the SKY tracks at a school concert as my music teacher was also into SKY and Rick Wakeman etc. Anyway, I have ALL of the SKY CD's and sheet music for the first three albums. I am about to scan all of the sheet music into .tif files so I will be able to pass it on to other SKY fans. I have also got the two DVD's and they are well worth the money. Finally I have seen the BAND 3 times and have spoken to Herbbie, Tristen and Kevin (but all a very long time ago now!)... I play there music at least once a week and have introduced them to many of my younger friends who find the music both exciting and "real". Speak to you soon. |

I consider myself lucky that I was into SKY from the beginning so I got all the albums. (Only over got the 'Dies Irae' 12" single so I am still missing a couple of tracks.) BTW, I am going to be off-line until 17th Oct., in Australia. Any CDs I should look for out there? |

Bill, You might wanna look out for the Australian DVD release of the Bremen gig, as it has a better cover (much more like the first album cover) and I suspect that the onscreen menu might be better. If you did pick up a spare copy, I'd be interested. (And don't forget to pop into the Alexendria Library - if you're near Perth - and try to make off with their VHS copies of the 1980 Hammy Odeon gig. We'll all chip in for copies, I suspect, or help you out with the bail if you get caught!) ;o) Have a nice time... |

I bought the Aussie Bremen gig DVD on eBay and am currently awaiting delivery (I only paid for surface mail as I'm not in a rush, so it'll take quite some time). Rest assured that I will make any appropriate comments on the relevant page in due course. :-) Here's a copy currently on sale - I think they have at least one copy available at any given time : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKY-LIVE-Bremen-Germany-1979-John-Williams-NEW-DVD_W0QQite mZ120038869712QQihZ002QQcategoryZ59009QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem |

Thanks for that, Richard. The Aus DVD cover is certainly better (both front and back) than the UK version. Even using the'proper' sky logo and not the squared-off one that QL used. I certainly intend adding it to my collection, then maybe giving the QL one away. (Maybe there's still hope that the Hammy Odeon gig will see the light of day - especially if we have an Australian company that is willing to release sky material...) |

Hi Darren, Reading about your playing SKY tracks at school in the 1980s brought back happy memories - I "play" guitar and along with some schoolfriends, tried to play Toccata and Carillon(...but soon decided to stick playing to the Shadows & Ventures songs instead!) - Which tracks did you play? I saw them on their SKY 3 tour but it was only in the last few years that I really begun to appreciate them. Since turning 40, I've rediscovered SKY and managed to acquire most of their material (but you are very lucky to have it all on CD - especially "Great Balloon Race"!) |
