I coudn't stay in bed this morning - too warm - so I thought I'd search for a Sky FIVE Live CD (Ariola). Besides Mozart, it's the only one I'm missing. Amazingly www.netsoundsmusic.com was selling it for a tenner! I've ordered it now - I just thought I'd give everyone the good news.

Is there any way of putting up an EDITABLE post so that known suppliers of Sky CD's & DVD's can be posted? Is this asking for trouble from spammers/idiots?

My copy of Five Live is on the Esoldun label. There was another issue that didn't have all the tracks on the LP issue.

Richard's web site mentions two different versions being released in 1997/1998. (I bought mine in 1995! 22nd April. I still have the receipt!)

One was a 2CD with studio tracks added. The other was a single CD with "The Animals" left out.

The whole thing would be about 93 min long but 72 min without "The Animals".

I may well have got the label wrong there. The trouble is, the web page disappeared as soon as I'd placed the order so I had to go from memory (which isn't all that good these days)

I'll see when it arrives....

The original Sky 5 Live album and CD with extra studio tracks had The Animals on it a later single CD had all tracks apart from the animals.

This track I believe is one of Skys best considering FM had left and JW was soon to go.

Though my personal preferences relate to early stuff with FM I still like some of later stuff and feel Steve Gray took Sky in a whole new more jazz direction whic I found appealing.

Gather round lads and I'll tell you a tale of joy, woe, joy, joy, woe and finally double joy.

When I first saw this at netsoundsmusic.com it was advertised as a CD (Joy). In my usual fashion I'd hit Print Screen and saved a pic for later reference. Netsoundsmusic.com then sent an email confirming my order for a double LP, not a CD (Woe. Since been sorted. Thank god I finally remembered the pic.). I re-trawled the world and found it on the German e-bay site (Joy). I got it for about £21 (Joy). After Waiting for it to arrive for 3 weeks, I finally resigned myself to having been conned (Woe). SECONDS before I finished a particularly vituperative bit of feedback, the postie arrived (this morning) with the CD and the Bremen concert DVD (DOUBLE JOY!)

The postie now thinks I'm a nutter....

It's the music club CD - MCCD 251. "The Animals" isn't on it, but I have this as an mp3 anyway.

There finally endeth the tale.

(Bugger work - I'm going to sneak off and watch the Bremen dvd....)

Mike, thanks for the offer but after I put up the post - and before I read yours - I realised that although I had The Animals as a quality mp3 on CDRW, I'd never made a CDR "hard copy" so I took the opportunity to burn 2 CDs (before I f*cked-up, again).

I also went out and got 30 dual dvd cases for this and other projects - only cost £6 retail.

I've now got to scan/create/modify a 5 live dvd cover! As I've never been much of an artist (the landlord at my local may disagree), "I may be some time" at this!

Ok No problem

Like the price of the dual DVD casaes

I've just MP3d all Sky recordings including live concerts in Adelaide; japan; Holland; London 79 and Bremem ON CDR Take up 4 CDRs so could use dual sided cases

You can get them from Planet Micro. They're a 10 minute drive away for me (to hell with the speed limit) so are pretty handy.

Just take a look at the 2nd item - 200 x SLIMLINE SINGLE DVD MEDIA CASING. Surely the plastic must cost more than that! The labour force must have a, ahem, "different standard of living" to most.

I'm full of these little pearls - the only trouble is, I don't think of them unless I'm prompted.

Such as:- I've got a (funny format) avi of the Seville concert, that looks to be high quality, and am in the process of trying to correct the aspect ratio. In the meantime I've ripped the audio - mono unfortunately. When I've done the dual cases will come in handy....

F%!£¬@# H&**!. I've just realised what you've said about the concerts. My other brain cell must be asleep! Any chance of a list / listing? New topic maybe?

On another location I have seen a more extended version of Sky Five Live, including the tracks Carillon and Toccata (on the first CD) and Westwind and Fantasia (on the second CD). Does anybody know about this release?
Next message Tricky  posted on Thursday, 20 October, 2005 - 06:05 pm
Eddy, this is the double CD 1995 release that has "studio bonus tracks" on it. On ebay at the moment. I WILL be bidding on it - you have been warned! >:|

Tricky, Just noticed your mention of the 'Seville' concert. Can you tell me what this file is about. You mentioned aspect ration and an avi file, so I assume it's a video. Maybe I can help you out again?

Myke, I've since managed to get the same bootleg DVD of the Seville concert that Richard mentions in another thread. Damn good quality for a not-so-obvious *unofficial* DVD. It's probably been ripped from a perfect laserdisc.

The file I originally downloaded was in a format that reduced the height to half of what it should have been (NTSC letterbox?)- ok for playback on a PC with suitable software, but no good for burning to a DVD. All my attempts to correct it either produced pixellation, or a "trails" effect that looked like the action sequences in "The Matrix" :-) Mildly amusing when drunk, but eyewatering otherwise. As it's a bootleg, if you want a copy...

I'll have a look for such a potential Laser-disk! In the meantime, yes please . . .
