Take a look at the site's new front page and check out the few additions, changes and corrections here, there and everywhere. (One of the corrections is that I've finally changed all the links to the old forum to point here instead.)

One new page in particular should give us something to talk about...

(The front page will revert to its previous look when I feel the new element has served its purpose)

So, you've already got it, have you...?

What could I be talking about?!!

How strange that the track-listing on the DVD menu should differ so crucially from what is actually on the DVD! This is bizarre and I can't begin to imagine how it has happened! Still, what we have is a priceless record of their first gig, albeit not very well filmed! Odd, also, that Cavatina has been dropped from the programme. Maybe there is some copyright or contractual problem there?

Anyway, read your review of the DVD and it still sounds like an essential purchase. Maybe some email correspondence with Quantum Leap (does Sam Beckett know about them?) will clear up these mysteries?

Re. the other things.

Afraid that the website front page still looks the same to me. And I still had to access the forum in the round about way. Maybe these changes take a while to come into operation? Or am I just mad?

Also, noticed that you'd changed the photo of Francis in the Band Members section. But you are still refering to someone by the name of 'Hank Harvin' in Kevin's biog. Who's he then? Sounds a bit like a shadowy character to me...

Now, shall I try to order the DVD from QL or shall I wait until it hits the shops... That is the question... Hmmm... Might just visit the QL website for a little nosey around...

;o)

Just watched the 'Westway' clip - WOW! The first time that I have glimpsed this since at least 1981! Has really whetted my apetite to watch it properly - with sound!

Picture quality looked good and the camera work was pretty much what you'd expect from the 1970s - ie. before the current trend for minimal static-shots and multiple moving cameras!

I am really looking forward to buying it and wallowing in nostalgia! I'm also intrigued to see what will happen when I select 'Cavatina' or 'Gymnopedie No. 1' from the track menu...

Oops. Typo alert! I managed to comment out the inclusion of Cavatina. That's been fixed (as has Hank Harvin). Thanks, Chris.

Yes, I've already got it, but that's thanks to Greg from Quantum, who contacted me in the hope of drumming up some advance publicity and sent me a review copy. I've already pointed out the mistakes to him and asked for any further info he might have to clear up my own issues about when this was recorded.

As for the site changes, I'm surprised that you can see the new pages and the corrected Band Members page, but the forum link didn't seem to work for you... It's possible that the link didn't change on a particular page (no, I didn't change them all manually!). Could you tell me which particular link you followed that didn't work?

Back to the subject, though: this is ABSOLUTELY an essential purchase for even the casual Sky fan, and whether or not you can wait two weeks to save a fiver is an individual decision... :-)

I've had it playing on a loop here since I got the disk on Saturday morning and must be driving the neighbours mad by now...

BTW, regarding your second message, Chris: think of the tracks as numbered 1-7 rather than having titles. (As it happens, the Cavatina title points to Cavatina).

For the avoidance of doubt, the items on the menu work as follows:

Westway -> Westway
Carrillion -> Danza
Cavatina -> Cavatina
Danza -> Cannonball
Gymnopede No. 1 -> Dance of the Little Fairies
Cannonball -> Carillon
Where Opposites Meet 1-5 -> W.O.M.

Damn! I was the first to spot the Bremen dvd and because I pre-ordered it immediately will probably be the last to see it!

I'll have to let off steam somewhere.... OK - Richard, why does the link under the picture of the Bremen dvd point to the Nottingham concert:-):-)

Richard, as regards Q.L. contacting you - I don't know wether to apologise or be smug for this. After I put up the post about contacting them, I pointed to this forum (and you in particular) as the source of all Sky knowledge. (I can't see a way of attaching a zip file of the emails and I didn't want to print it all out here). I got a subtle slapped wrist - but they're obviously now impressed with what they've seen on this site.

Sorry if this means more work for you....

Yes, all the new pages are now functioning perfectly - including the home page 'advert' for the Bremen DVD. I agree that it will be an 'essential purchase' for all sky fans. Thanks for the explanations regarding the DVD menu and actual track-listing. Exactly the same as the audio copy that I have (recorded off the TV back in 1981). I'm even more excited about it now, as for a while there I was worried that either Cavatina or Dance of the Little Fairies (or both!) would be missing.

I have no idea why some of the new pages and links were working, whilst others weren't. One of those mysteries of time and space, I suppose. When I accessed the forum yesterday morning, it was via the temporary 'The Forum is now closed - click here' link. But the left hand menu takes me straight to it now. Glad to see that Hank 'Marvin' is back in the Shadows, by the way. I never liked that 'Harvin' guy - hopeless at playing Apache...

Anyway, looking forward to the Bremen DVD and it would be interesting to know if the menu mistakes will be cleared up. Mind you, then, of course, we'd have to buy copies of the 'fixed' version, which I would be happy to do if they could secure new interviews with the band members talking about this historic gig and the years that followed...
