I must say that I am a little sad that, in this, the band's 30th anniversary year, the sky forum seems to have virtually ground to a halt.

Activity on the various boards seems now to have almost stopped, with only one or two people now posting. I sometimes look back at the old threads and messages from two, three, four years ago and the place seemed to be a veritable hive of activity. Of course, it could be that plenty of people are still reading these boards, but are not posting. To my mind, activity seemed to be badly affected when it became necessary (thanks to the spammers) to register in order to take part. This seems to have been when things started to go wrong. So sad that a minority of idiots should spoil it for everyone.

I'm also quite concerned that Richard Sliwa seems to have quite literally vanished into thin air. It seems so odd to set up such a great site as this, to take an active interest in it for so long and then to just disappear. It all seems very strange. My hope is that he is still out there, somewhere, and that, from time to time, he still takes a look at this great site he created over ten years ago.

Maybe we all move on and, with no sign of any further sky releases, people have just lost interest and found that they have nothing to say. A shame as, when it was at its peak, this forum was a lively and informative place, often frequented by the late Steve Gray who contributed so much to the discussions.

It is my hope that one day Richard will return and will update the site in the various areas where new developments (not all of them good) really should be covered.

To all of you who have contributed in the past, thanks, I've enjoyed being part of some great discussions. And to those who are still out there; all the best and see ya around...!!!

Well, sadly there is nothing to be added.

Except that I still do have contact to Francis, who just recently provided me with a wonderful recording of him playing the emperor concerto in Conway Hall in 1986.

But nothing new on Sky.

It's a real shame that such a great repotoire of music by such tremendous musicians should almost disappear without trace. If only the music could be re introduced to the masses, it would be interesting to see the reaction.

Certain albums, like the Mozart one, were panned by the critics, yet I still listen to it fairly regularly, and the version of the Magic Flute Overture is a classic piece.

Re the forum, I do pop back every week or so to see if anything has turned up or been posted. But things are slow I guess. On the upside I recently saw Ultravox on their reunion tour, what a night of memories. Now if only there was a SKY tribute band.

Re Mozart. I agree with your first point Lance, but now this is only my opinion, for whatever it counts, but - I can't say I like the Mozart album at all. Firstly I never knew it existed until I found this forum, then Mike Breen kindly let me listen to it. However the first thing that came to mind on listening to it was 'Hooked on Classics' by either the LPO or the LSO (can't remember which) whom I had seen at the Cambridge Folk Festival in the early 80's. It just seemed to me to be a straight copy of the general style of the 'Hooked' albums, i.e. take some classics and put a beat to it, and segue a few pieces together. Ironically I'm sure I remember Herbie playing Bass with the full orchestra at that gig! Maybe that's why it bombed here, it had been done before.

I agree. 'Mozart' was very like 'Hooked on Classics', although it did have its moments.

However, I won't part with my CD, even if only for the great cover art.
