(I used to have it on LP and CD but got rid of the CD years ago as I never listened to it - didn't enjoy it at all! (Kept the LP for my collection, though - I think!) |

I used to have this on LP - a long time ago. Featuring the voice of Patrick Allen from the famous Barratt Homes ads of the 1970s! I think I bought it purely because Kevin Peek was on it.
A poor man's 'War of the Worlds' - I honestly couldn't recommend it to anyone! As far as I recall, they had tried to add 'Pluto' to the suite, as it hadn't, of course, been discovered when Holst wrote the original.
Like Richard, I seldom listened to it and felt compelled to throw it away after years of it gathering dust.
Absolute rubbish. Holst must have been turning in his grave...

Just looked at the eBay listing -- £26.50!! Blimey, someone's taking the michael!
Appears that my memory was cheating me, they hadn't added 'Pluto' to the suite. Must have been thinking of the final track, Beyond. But Beyond what? 'Belief'?
Also amused to see that there was a final piece of narration by Patrick Allen entitled 'The Heavens Reply'. I'd love to know what they said!!!!! (I can imagine...) |
